On October 7th, 1992, Georgia became a full member of UNESCO. The same year, on the basis of the article 7 of UNESCO’s Constitution, Georgia established its National Commission for UNESCO. The main goal of the Commission is to support and to coordinate the projects and activities led in Georgia by UNESCO, while ensuring the promotion of the Organization’s work.
Since 1992, the Georgian National Commission for UNESCO welcomed four General Secretaries: Petre Metreveli, Irakli Metreveli, Ekaterine Enukidze and Ketevan Kandelaki.
