The Intergovernmental Conference Tbilisi+35: Environmental Education for Sustainable Development, organized by the Government of Georgia in partnership with UNESCO and UNEP has started on the 6th of September in Tbilisi, Georgia.
Mr. Qian Tang, the UNESCO Assistant Director General for Education Sector, participated in the conference in the capacity of the vice-president.
In the framework of the visit Mr. Tang held his meetings with the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Ms. Khatia Dekanoidze, the Minister of Culture and Monument Protection, Mr. Nikoloz Rurua and with the Deputy Foreign Minister, Mr. Davit Jalagania. He also visited Tbilisi Vocational College "Spectri" and inclusive education public School N 198.
The Secretary General of the Georgian National Commission for UNESCO, Ms Ketevan Kandelaki, participated in the abovementioned meetings.

Tbilisi +35 Environmental Education for Sustainable Development
On 25th of May, 2012 the second meeting of the coordinating working group of the project "Improving management of the Historic Monuments of Mtskheta (Georgia)" was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. The mentioned project was financed in the frames of the "International Assistance "of the World Heritage Fund. The project envisages improvement of management of the Historic Monuments of Mtskheta and it will be implemented by the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia.
The working group is comprised of the representatives from the Ministries of Culture and Monument Protection, Economy and Sustainable Development, Regional Development and Infrastructure, also the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia, Mtskheta Municipality, Patriarchate, ICOMOS and from the Secretariat of the Georgian National Commission for UNESCO. The Secretary General of the National Commission for UNESCO, Ms. Ketevan Kandelaki welcomed the working group. The Head of the section for UNESCO and International Relations of the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia Ms. Rusudan Mirzikashvili, made a report on main challenges for the World Heritage Sites of Mtskheta, their management and technical tasks.
On 22nd of May 2012, the presentation of the project "The Mokvi Gospel-diagnostics, digitalization, edition "was held at the National Center of Manuscripts. The project was financed and implemented in the framework of the UNESCO "Participation Programme" 2010-2011. The director of the center, Mr. Mamuka Kudava informed the audience on the results of the project and Ms. Ketevan Kandelaki, the Secretary General of the Georgian National Commission for UNERSCO, welcomed the guests on behalf of the commission. The director of the center presented bilingual album "The Mokvi Gospel" published in the frames of the mentioned project.
On 15th of May, 2012 the first meeting of the interagency working group of the convention for Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural heritage was held on the initiative of the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia.
The working group is comprised of the representatives of different ministries as well as of NGOs, patriarchate and the Secretariat of the Georgian National Commission for UNESCO. The member of the secretariat of the Georgian National Commission for UNERSCO, Ms. Lali Meskhi welcomed the members of the working group on behalf of the commission.
The main topic of the meeting was creation of the register documentation and guidelines for its completion.
The joint UNESCO/ICOMOS/ICCROM reactive monitoring mission visited Georgia from 23rd to 28th of April, 2012with the aim to evaluate the state of conservation of the Georgian World Heritage sites, Historic Monuments of Mtskheta and Bagrati Cathedral and Gelati Monastery. In the framework of the mentioned visit, meetings were held- with the Minister of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia, Mr. Nikoloz Rurua, at the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia, Patriarchate and at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, with the Vice-President of the Georgian National Commission for UNESCO, Mr. Davit Jalagania.
On the grounds of the missions' report the World Heritage Committee will elaborate draft recommendations and submit them to the 36th session of the committee to be held in October, 2012.
