The 11th Session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, held in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, 28 November-2 December 2016, decided to inscribe  the Georgian nomination "Living Culture of the three writing systems of the Georgian alphabet" on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The members of the Intergovernmental Committee supported unanimously the nomination submitted and stated that it fully complies with all the criteria of the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
