From 2 to 12 September 2018, the city of Batumi hosted the sixth edition of the Batumi festival of classical music, under UNESCO patronage.

The famous Georgian pianist and UNESCO Artist for Peace, Elisso Bolkvadze founded the festival in 2012 in order to promote artistic creativity but also to support talented young artists.

The festival gathered notorious musicians from all around the World to perform pieces from the classical repertoire. Among those musicians were the French pianist Lise de la Salle, the Greek conductor Myron Michailidis, the Austrian pianist Viktoria Hirschhuber and the Irish pianist Bari Douglas.

As part of the festival, a “musical camp” for children of all regions of Georgia has been created in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia.
